“Don’t call Trump supporters nazis, it hurts their feelings.”

Yes, this is real (link to tweet). Yes, Tucker Carlson is literally repeating Nazi propaganda that aided the genocide of the Romani during the Holocaust. Yes, I am furious.

(Also, although there is a large population of Romani in Romania, they aren’t indigenous to Romania. They’re a diasporic group originally from northern India.)

Romani and Jewish have been screaming at the top of their lungs for years about neo-fascism in Europe, and Americans were totally aloof.

Then neo-fascism reared its head in America, but Roma and Jews were left out of the conversation in terms of people being impacted, because our oppression was “over.”

Now Tucker Carlson is on live TV using slurs and Nazi propaganda about Romani people, and I’m 90% most people on the left are just going to ignore it.

It’s fucking starting y’all. It’s happening again.

If you’re not Jewish or Roma PLEASE BOOST THIS.

I was looking through Shattered Glass stuff, and I realized: Shattered Glass TFP would be HORRIFYING. Especially SG!TFP Optimus. Yeesh. (Also, I can’t but help imagine the Rescue Bots as the DJD in this scenario.)

So, I mostly agree:  TFP is a lot grittier than G1, and so SG!TFP would probably get very dark, and be willing to push the boat out further on the extent of that darkness.  But also – I think the fact that TFP is more morally grey might complicate things.  Like, you’d probably get some truly horrifying Autobots (some of the concepts I’ve seen for SG!Ratchet just send shudders down my spine), but just as the TFP Decepticons are a lot more nuanced and less straight-up evil than in G1, so you probably wouldn’t get, say, a cackling goateed Smokescreen. 🙂  Of course, by the same token, the SG!Decepticons might be a little more willing to do bad things for good reasons than the G1 Shattered Glass gang…

(Obligatory plug:  I’ve actually written Shattered Glass TFP and yes!  Optimus is creepy af, can confirm!)

And WOW.  I’m not sure whether you mean the SG!Rescue Bots behaving like a normal DJD, which is frankly TERRIFYING, or the actualfax Rescue Bots being a kind of Shattered Glass DJD, which is adorable.  (Blades would do things like tickle his prisoner’s feet with a feather, and then worry he’d gone too far.  Boulder would get distracted by natural beauty.  “Just look at the magma flowing from that volcano!”  “Are you… going to dangle me over it?”  “What?  No!  I just wanted to show you the colours!”  Chase would keep the List and faithfully issue tickets to everyone on it.  Heatwave would have the power of talking someone to mild annoyance.  It wouldn’t be an Outlier power; it would just be Heatwave being Heatwave.)

Speaking of Pharma, do you think he had a different job before it was discovered he was better suited for medicine or that his ‘forged surgeon hands’ were noticed upon creation? Would he still have faced discrimination from others despite being approved for it since jets in the medical field are unusual? I think about this a lot.

Hmmmm… I think it’s possible he had another job and someone (or even he himself) noticed his aptitude, and applied for an alt mode exemption.  I get the sense that in general, the Functionists didn’t really notice/test aptitudes outside of alt modes (because occasional exemptions are one thing, but actually seeing what people are good at before you assign them a function… well, that’s like flat-out admitting that your alt mode doesn’t determine what you’re for!  Shock horror! /sarcasm).

And yeah, I suspect he still faced discrimination.  Fliers in the sciences in general seem to have gotten shit for it (looking at the way, say, Jetfire was treated before the war); medicine might even have been worse, since it seems like most doctors turn into ambulances.  (In the Delphi arc, Ratchet even mentions assuming that Ambulon would do something “in ambulance mode”, which is probably at least partly because of the name, but quite likely also because, well, doctors are ambulances, right?)  I can easily see other doctors muttering behind Pharma’s back that it was a shame those skilled hands were attached to a flier, who couldn’t possibly have the brains to match.  I’m sure Ratchet would have no patience with people talking like that, though, which might even be how he and Pharma became friends.

I just had the most ridiculous idea ever: around the time of RID 2015, Ratchet goes undercover on Earth while on the run from the new Council. He uses a Holomatter Avatar… And becomes the Question. Only Fowler knows it’s him, and he doesn’t tell anyone because he thinks it’s hilarious. Besides, it’s not like Ratchet is going to use anything that he learns. (Look up “Justice League Question Conspiracy” if you don’t know who I’m talking about. It’s my other favorite Jeffery Combs role.)

I really dig Jeffrey Combs as the Question!  I love the idea of Ratchet secretly being him, and just not being… quite used to human culture (but still savvy enough about universal sentient nature, and with a sharp enough and dark enough turn of mind, to figure out all the underlying evil conspiracies going on).

I also imagine him reacting like the Question does if anyone tries to flirt with him, just… epically not getting it.  (I’m thinking of the scene in Justice League where Huntress asks him what he’s wearing, and he’s like, “Hat.  Suit.  Trenchcoat.”

Sleeping Beauty crackfic

ifeelbetterer:

Natasha had only just gotten back from her own mission when she’d been diverted to the medical floor of the Tower. She hadn’t even had a chance to get that stubborn bit of blood spatter from behind her right ear that had been there since Khabarovsk and apparently it was going to stay a bit longer because someone got hit by a magic spell.

“What has he done this time?” she asked, pitching her voice to exasperated indifference simply because that seemed the best option available at the moment.

Tony looked like he was about to say something but Bruce clapped a hand over his mouth and said instead, “He got hit by a knockout spell.”

Natasha plucked Clint’s chart from the foot of his bed (because Avengers’ medical charts had special sections for magical injuries) and speed-read through it.

“Sleeping Beauty?” she asked. Bruce and Tony nodded in unison.

“That’s why we needed you right away,” Tony said apologetically. “I mean, you’ve got a bit of entrails on your shoes so I’m assuming this is an awkward time and we’ve just–we needed you to–” he waved his hands awkwardly towards Clint, somehow encompassing all that mess you know “–you know. Do the thing.”

“The thing,” she said. She allowed a long silence.

“The kissing thing,” Tony helpfully supplied because he had no sense of self preservation.

“You’re assuming a lot of things there, Stark.”

Tony’s brow furrowed. Even Bruce looked confused.

“But you’re—with the—” more awkward flailing “–surely you should be the one–”

“Absolutely not. But lucky for you, I know who would fit the bill.”

She pulled out her phone and dialed quickly.

***

Forty-five minutes later, a cab pulled up outside the Tower and Natasha ushered the passengers up to Clint’s room. Tony and Bruce were arguing outside the door in hushed tones, like speaking too loudly might possibly disturb Clint’s sleep.

“Is Barton into teenag–” Tony started to ask but Natasha elbowed him in the ribs, making him gasp.

“No.”

Kate pushed open the door and waved the one-eyed, busted-to-hell-and-back mutt through.

“That’s not sanita–” Tony tried to protest but the doors swung shut behind them.

Kate snapped her fingers over Clint’s chest and said briskly, “Up, Lucky.” It was all the invitation the dog needed, jumping up with that deft agility that made his paws land harmlessly in the gaps around Clint’s body. His tail wagged vigorously back and forth and then he settled his haunches right onto Clint’s chest.

He was staring straight at Clint’s face, waiting for a sign or an order. He nudged forward slowly, scooting his whole torso across Clint. Gently, he slobbered his adoration across Clint’s face.

Clint’s eyes fluttered open.

“Aww dog,” he said.

This is a bit of a random question, but I have to know. Was it ever explained why the Autobots put a mining operation and a medical facility on the DJD’s home planet? Did they just not know? It seems weird and impractical to expect a bunch of miners and medics who may or may not even be combat trained to be able to deal with the decepticon’s top murder squad.

My memory of it – which may or may not be accurate – is that the mine predated the DJD’s presence, and that it was one of the few available nucleon deposits out there. So the Autobots kept up the mining even once the DJD basically annexed Messatine, as long as the DJD allowed it, and set up the clinic specifically for the miners and guards (presumably because the DJD would regularly raid the mines to get their own nuke stash).

Anyone else know if I’ve got that right?

How to Get Your Skeleton Back From the Guy Who Took It

thatsbelievable:

DON’T plead for your skeleton. Pleading
is like begging, but with four different letters.

DO hire a crack commando unit from the
Los Angeles underground to retrieve your skeleton.

DON’T just take the skeleton and run,
because maybe it’s not your skeleton, and then you’ll have BAD
SKELETON LUCK for the next rest of your life.

DO dress like an enormous duck-human
hybrid to scare the guy who took your skeleton, because it’s a widely
known fact that guys who steal skeletons are afraid of enormous
duck-human hybrids.

Questions for JRo?

justroddythings:

Hey guys instead of overloading Jro with questions maybe ask fellow fans first? Because some things he’s already answered or have already been covered in the comic. Two good sources are @jrtweetsindex, where (most) of his posts are collected, and my blog @transformersidw that has a lot of in-story content (all tagged by character), and I personally have invested a lot of time collecting information through multiple rereads, TFwiki articles and conversations with Jro. I also have cohesive lists of the entire LL crew manifest (including their status of living/dead, hometowns, sparktypes and whether they’re forged or CC, Censere’s list of the Disappeared, and a chronological IDW reading order. (Since it includes status of living or dead, the crew manifest contains spoilers, and is still a work in progress.)

Tl;dr: Ask the fans before Jro!
