I still haven’t caught up on the whole thing.  Technology!  *shakes fist*

From what I caught:  The one that took me aback the most was him saying he hadn’t intended – or anticipated – Rodimus/Magnus as a ship.  He also talked a bit about Drift/Rodimus (that maybe it could have been a thing – maybe it had been a thing, sometimes – but they wouldn’t have been looking to settle down together, and Rodimus was ultimately happy for Drift and Ratchet); about a definite connection and “maybe a frisson of something” between Megatron and Minimus; about Cyclonus and Tailgate’s wedding (”very loud, a lot of singing”); about whether anything had been planned between Velocity and Swerve (no); about whether there was anything between Dominus and Kaon (”not in the way you’re thinking”).  I’m sure I’m forgetting some, and that’s just from the portion I caught, which was MAYBE 45 minutes out of a… two and a half hour stream?  Something like?

Oh!  And he said Swerve would totally be up for dating Ryan Reynolds.  Which, yes. 🙂

To clarify, people didn’t ask him ABOUT Ryan Reynolds.  Someone asked, “Would Swerve ever date a human?” and the answer was, without hesitation, “He would date Ryan Reynolds.”

There was also a tidbit about a hypothetical Simpatico wedding (although he said the ship itself was implied as eventually canon) – it would, apparently, be very ‘complicated’, in that they’d constantly be trying to outdo each other in subtle little ways. 😉

Oh, yeah, I remember that now!

For some reason, my mental image is just Perceptor and Brainstorm reminiscing years after the wedding, telling the story to someone who wasn’t there:  “Well, it did get a bit complicated, of course.  Dear Stormy and I kept trying to one-up one another.  You know, in subtle little ways.”

*cut to a wedding flashback, with Brainstorm and Perceptor running from an 800-foot-tall walking carniverous wedding cake that shoots flames from its eyes*

Ugh you know what, there’s this Stephen Collins cartoon I cannot find anywhere, but it was basically riffing on couples who host elaborate, exotic, expensive holidays as part of their wedding. So you had these guests in spacesuits who had been trying to reach this reception in simply the most ~unique~ and ~interesting~ location, which was like, the 10th dimension or something.

I feel like that is the logical conclusion of these two planning their own wedding.

#the whole thing is like a 2.5 on the Brainstorm Scale

Absolutely.  At LEAST.  Hell, they probably spawned additional alternate universes just trying to settle on the most unique location.

They probably warped causality just planning the menu.

I like to think Rodimus would sometimes lick it just to be a brat. Prowl is horrified.

THIS IS CANON NOW I WILL HEAR NO ARGUMENT TO THE CONTRARY. 😀  That is so 100% Rodimus that it’s perfect!

I think Prowl would initially be horrified and jerk back like he’d been burned, but after a few times –

Okay, I should maybe preface this by saying that I have a younger brother, we’re pretty close in age, and we spent our childhood in basically a state of open warfare. 🙂

After a few times, I think he’d just switch to clamping his whole hand over Rodimus’s mouth.  Rodimus, being Rodimus, would just start licking his palm, and Prowl would pretend to ignore it while continuing with the discussion he’d been trying to have.  So you’d occasionally have scenes where the second-in-command of the entire Autobot military is sitting at a conference table, saying, “As I mentioned, the stocks of medical supplies at Kimia are currently…” while just hanging on like grim death to the jaw of this lower-ranking unit commander who’s absolutely going to town on his hand with his tongue, and Optimus is simply staring at them and wondering, idly, how this became his life.

Omg yes! As an older sibling I totally understand what you’re getting at. No one can show defeat or weakness!

I absolutely love that you wrote that and @rodimiss wrote:

As a younger sibling who has pulled the “lick the palm” move many a time, this is exactly how it would play out.

Agreement from both sides of the aisle! 😀

I was the older sibling getting my palm licked (and bitten, if he could get enough purchase), and you’re right, there could be no surrender.

I love all these ideas! But I have to wonder in Skids case if he always was “The attractive one”. I think a big part of Skids appeal is that he’s just bloody charming and nice, but we’ve only ever known post amnesia Skids. I’m tossing this out there, imagine that maybe specop Skids was attractive but the second he started speaking to you people were just put off, he came across as quite surly. Oh sure, his training allowed him to seduce anything eventually but there was always something a little off about it. His disarming smile never quite reached his eyes. Amnesia Skids is free of his burdens and past mistakes so his smiles and attitude are far more genuine and people are utterly floored by it.

Ooooh, yes, I really like this.  (It reminds me a lot of @warlordenfilade‘s take in her fic, as well.)  There’s a – kind of an irony, but a nice irony, about the idea that Skids ultimately decided that he did want to remember his past and that amnesia wasn’t as liberating a fresh start as he’d thought… but it was liberating.  It enabled him to reclaim a freer, more genuine version of himself, even if he didn’t realise that.  It let him just be.

I really like the idea that Spec Ops both trained and kind of dampened Skids’s natural charm, by turning it (and him) into a weapon.  And I can imagine that that confused Getaway when he found Skids again:  on the one hand, he’s as floored as anyone else by this kind, open person who’s fascinated by everyone and everything.  On the other hand, who is this guy?  Why does his light seem to dim around Getaway now, instead of brighten like it used to?  Why does he get angry instead of laughing when Getaway makes cutting comments about people, and look at Getaway incredulously when he says something about how exhausting it is to charm everyone all the time?

(I just have a lot of feelings about these two.)

What do you reckon before the war?  Because I can see Skids as just as naturally charming and curious then, oblivious to how much the people around him were infatuated with him (*cough*GLITCH*cough*), but I can also see him being a bit gawky and earnest and not having quite grown into himself yet…

warlordenfilade replied to your post:  Is it wrong that JRo confirming certain ships…

J Ro also made clear that he supports people having fun in fanfic regardless of his personal take, and that he doesn’t want to hurt feelings, by answering honestly

Absolutely this.  @warlordenfilade is wise.  And I think it’s a really important distinction to make.  Like, while I think a bit of disappointment if JRo doesn’t share or have anything to say about a particular ship is understandable, I really encourage everyone not to get discouraged or feel like they’ve done anything wrong in shipping something.

“I don’t see it” =/= “You’re wrong.”  “Not in my interpretation” =/= “You’re wrong.”  JRo’s really made an effort throughout to encourage us to interpret things the way we want to, to ship whatever we like, to come to our own decisions about what happened or what it means.  He’s been so insistent (and so kind) about that, I don’t think he’d want people to be sad or to feel like something was taken away from them.
