whether or not breakdown isĀ ā€œsweetā€ i think is debatable but he was the only high command officer who cared about the wellbeing of vehicons and made an to attempt to understand autobot loyalties when he very certainly didn’t have to. But idk. He’s /nice/ which i think is important? The Nemesis doesnt seem like a nice place and I can imagine how having someone like that around as a superior officer as opposed to Starscream or Knock Out (as much as i love them both) would be a breath of fresh air for a vehicon tbh. just. idk. Breakdown was good. I like him.

Maybe it’s his lack of ego? He only seems cocky when fighting (particularly Bulkhead) but the rest of the time he’s just doing his job. In comparison to the extreme personalities of Knockout and Starscream, Breakdown is just chill by comparison

I think thats probably a lot of it. He’s not the greatest guy ever, he’s still somewhat of a dick (Even if a likable one.) just. in comparison to everyone else he just comes off like a normal dude, which on the nemesis is so fuckin rare he winds up seeming nice.Ā

Everyone around him is promising death and destruction to all and with flourish and scheming the downfall of a regime and how they can get a leg up in some new world order that doesn’t exist yet and he’s like ā€œguyyyysss when can I go punch that green Autobot?ā€

This, all of this!!

This is why I love Breakdown so much. He’s not a cinnamon roll and he’s not exactly a sweetheart either. He’s pugnacious and proud and hot tempered and mean. But he’s also wonderfully, refreshingly straightforward. His fights aren’t ideological and his perceptions of others are not categorical. He’s cowed by authority and loyal to the Decepticons for this reason, but he still treats everyone, from colleagues to subordinates to mortal enemies, as people. Fighting is his first language, but his second is diplomacy. He accepts conciliatory gestures without guile or hesitation and returns them in kind. And for god’s sake, can we talk about his work ethic? Granted his work chiefly consists of bashing Autobots, but if he has to spend ten hours buffing Megatron’s inert corpse, you can bet Megatron’s inert corpse will get the buffing of a lifetime. Breakdown doesn’t do anything by halves. He loves to work, he loves to fight, he loves his husband, and you can darn well bet he loved his life. And this is why I love him.
